Catrin Smith is a Welsh, queer, analogue photographer, based in Brighton. Catrin uses photography to create visual representations of her experiences, mimicking her personality. In doing this, she attempts to contribute towards the development and broadening of the definition of queer photography. Through the use of unconventional photographic methods, Catrin raises questions such as what constitutes a real thing or object, as well as what constitutes photography and art. This is important throughout the work when considering questions like what should a queer person look like and what is or isn't considered a queer artist. Catrin experiments with methods such as luminograms, double exposure and solarisation in the dark room.
